Meet Chef Ashish Massey – The Man Behind ‘The Ancient Barbeque, Delhi NCR’

Standing in a queue for your name to be called out and post the wait, as you enter, the aroma of the finger licking barbecue food across different tables fills your senses with joie de vivre!

Well, this is a quotidian experience at most lunch & dinner services of The Ancient Barbeque. ‘TAB’ as it is fondly referred is a well-known barbecue buffet restaurant brand in Delhi NCR. The weekends are especially running houseful which explains the waiting. Here no one can keep calm with just one visit!

When there were only one or two good buffet restaurants available in the barbecue food within Delhi NCR, ‘The Ancient Barbeque’ made its presence felt with a great line-up of grilled starters & main course.


The mastermind behind ‘The Ancient Barbeque’ and a great chef himself is Chef Ashish Massey.

Chef Ashish hails from Delhi and did his education from IHM, Hyderabad. He specializes in cooking Italian, Mexican, French and cold kitchen cuisines.

Post finishing his education he was roped in as a management trainee with Taj group of hotels. After the dream stint, he further progressed in his career graph with top brands in the hospitality business like Taj Palace, Taj Rambagh Palace Jaipur, acted as an opening chef for Hotel Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad and opening chef for Hotel Crowne Plaza, Rohini.

Currently, Chef Ashish Massey of The Ancient Barbeque has his own brand called ‘Ardour Cooking with Ashish Massey’. Along with this, he is the co-owner of three super successful restaurants namely TAB (Noida), The Ancient Barbeque (Gurgaon) & Smokehouse Biryani (Noida). The much talked about two outlets of TAB are not just in place but are super successful!

Further, he has been providing consultancy to many brands in F&B sector like Nathu’s, Aanch, Quiznos Sub, Chai Thela and more. Year 2017 will mark the introduction of two new hospitality brands in QSR & Cafe restaurant models.

What’s stored in future one may ask from him? So good new is that by 2018, Chef Ashish Massey plans to take his brand ‘The Ancient Barbeque’ and set it on the global map with restaurants opening doors in Germany & Canada.

…and what’s on his mind at the moment, of course, the ongoing “Grills On Fire Festival” at ‘The Ancient Barbeque Gurgaon’. The fest has 26 exclusive fiery starters curated by Chef Ashish Massey with MasterChef 2016 contestants Rohini T. Chawla, Sadaf Hussain & India’s chef-model discovery BiryaniWalla Majid Khan. Happening from 3rd to 12th February 2017, ‘Grills On Fire Festival’ will have the specially planned vegetarian & non-vegetarian starters served along with main course & desserts.
