It seems just yesterday that we were in our school uniforms trying to break free from every sort of restrictions laid upon by parents and teachers. Isn’t it? As most of us today are bored and exhausted while coping with work schedules & family needs, let us revisit are glorious growing up days. Days, when, every one of us aspired to make it big one day, stand out of the crowd and yes, of course, have a saga of romance lived!
Here are some of the shows telecasted during 1990s’ decade which will open the black box of bountiful nostalgia:
Hip Hip Hurray
Remember the gang comprising of Kiran, Alisha, Nonie, Mazhar, Raghav, John, Samantha & Cyrus? All the girls wanted to roll down their socks, pull their skirts a little above the knee while the boys adapted to open their collar button and flaunt their loosened shirt a little more. They surely made the junior school girls & boys aspire to grow quickly to the high school age filled with dream-like cool life!
‘Remix’ is by far the most loved and fondly remembered school life TV drama which was recreated by Star TV. It took all of us closer to the lives of a bunch of 12th standard students from an elite school, ‘Maurya High’. With each episode literally characters of Tia Ahuja, Anvesha Ray Banerjee, Yuvraj Dev and Ranveer Sisodia became a part of our gang gossips. The girls were all crazy for Karan Wahi who played Ranveer while the boys fell in love with Tia & Anvesha.
Banegi Apni Baat
This show was first telecasted on Zee TV in 1993 and trust me it was much bolder than the cliched shows aired on Zee TV today. It dealt with college life of then which in some aspects is relatable till today. Many acclaimed actors of today like R.Madhavan, Varun Badola, Irrfan Khan, Shefali Chhaya, Firdaus Dadi, Sadiya Siddiqui, Achint Kaur, Rishabh, Rakhee Tandon and Rituraj got noticed from ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. The hilarious thing about this show was that most of our parents were scared of letting us watch this show!
Yeah, this one was telecasted on Doordarshan. After private TV broadcasters had already dished out teen dramas’ like Remix, Doordarshan launched ‘School Days’ which had yet another perspective of school life and teenage.
This was a family TV show that focussed on the growing up years and the journey towards the adult life of Jai played by Vatsal Sheth. His relationship equations with his family members, friends and the girls in his life taught us many good lessons for our future life.
