Yesterday, I was listening to one of my favorite radio station where the radio jockey was talking about Akshay Kumar and his latest movie Jolly LLB 2. He said, “If Akshay Kumar grows a moustache then he’s probably working on a serious film while if he gets clean shaven then his next is a light-hearted comedy flick.” I was amazed and laughing at such a keen following of the actor. Well, he’s an R.J. and moreover, a fan is a fan, no matter what!
So talking about Jolly LLB 2 that released this Friday. The movie is a courtroom drama similar to its prequel to Jolly LLB 1 which had Arshad Warsi in the lead role. With only a few actors like Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra from the first film take in similar character roles.
Story:
Akshay is a junior advocate & an employee with a high profile lawyer. His dream of buying a chamber of his own turns into an eye-opening guilt journey when a pregnant woman commits suicide. Though supported by his wife, played by, Huma Qureshi, and his other friends, Akshay is not able to overcome the loss of his client. This is when he decides to file a PIL and reopen the case that the woman wanted to challenge in the court. Of course, he wins the case but how he wins it is a thing for one to see in the movie.
What Worked for Me:

Jolly LLB 2 has noted actors like Akshay Kumar, Anu Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra & Kumud Mishra from whom one can safely expect to get some great performances in the film.

Huma Qureshi has a small role to make the film light. She look’s nice as Akshay’s wife.

The final courtroom sequence is the highlight of the movie.

Some dialogues are really well written and the one-liners said by Annu Kapoor are pure satire.

The speed of the movie is very nice & story is crisp.

The film takes up an issue about people manipulating the system for their personal benefit. Here a super cop and his series of encounter stories have been depicted.
What Didn’t Work for Me:

From cinematography point, the film takes you from Lucknow to Varanasi and also to Jammu & Kashmir but doesn’t really bring out the aesthetic value of these places like in other movies.

The holi kind of celebration song, I felt was unnecessary.

Annu Kapoor’s character was little-underdone considering he could have played the pompous advocate very easily.

Some scenes are a cold blooded copy from the prequel Jolly LLB with dialogues changes a little here & there.
Verdict:
I will give this film 3.5/5 stars.
Jolly LLB 2 is a good one-time watch movie that won’t disappoint you. The balance of legal matter and comedy is good which prevents the film from becoming heavy. Akshay Kumar & Anu Kapoor are the show stealers. Surely the viewers will feel that the prequel Jolly LLB was better cause it was a fresh take on courtroom drama but Jolly LLB 2 is a complete paisa vasool!
