7 Times When Recent Bollywood Films Made Us Value Other Relations More Than Romance!

Finding ‘true love & getting married’ is the most liked subject in Bollywood films. It is from films that people learn various manoeuvres of wooing their love interests and more. Guilty as charged, right?  But of lately, there has been a sudden arrival of movies that abandoned the mushy man-woman romance. These movies brought other relationships that are equally important in the real life in the centre-stage.

Here are seven recent films that made us think so:

  • List of Contents

    Dangal

Aamir Khan’s only film that released in 2016, ‘Dangal’, was based on the true story of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his Common Wealth Games Wrestling Gold medallist daughters Geeta & Babita Phogat. It was not just the tale of two ordinary school going girls becoming national champions but it was also an inspiring depiction of a father’s immense perseverance & love towards his daughters.

  • Mom

Yet again Sridevi has proven her fine acting skills with her latest movie Mom (Read the review of this film here). The soul of this movie lay in the vitality of the relation between a mother and her daughter. In the present times when the Millennials are ever searching for space away from their parents, this movie tries to instill the belief every child should have in his or her parents.

  • Piku

Another fairly recent movie that looked into father-daughter relation is ‘Piku’. The love of Amitabh Bachchan for his grown-up daughter Deepika Padukone in this film is heartening!

  • Jagga Jasoos

Source

The latest movie by Anurag Basu, opens up the relationship of a boy with his foster father. A father – son relationship is often thought to be a very formal kind, one that is practically emotionless. But Jagga Jasoos explored this tacit bond.

  • Tubelight

Source

‘Tubelight’ was one of the most anticipated films of Salman Khan in 2017. Post Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) & Sultan (2016) creating newer milestones for the 100 Cr. club films, the audience had high hopes for this film as well. But though the film didn’t see an equal box office success it highlighted love between brothers. Today when siblings hardly find the time to meet and spend quality time with each other, this movie tries to rekindle the brotherly love.

  •  Dear Zindagi

Source

This movie studies relation with self. The relation with self is the most important among all kinships. It is like soul searching. It is this bond that the person has to be in his or her truest form. Certainly not live in a fake world or run away from problems. The movie showcased the importance of this relation as no other film has done off-lately.

  • Raman Raghav 2.0

Last but not the least is this movie that exposes the darker side of the connection with self. The film had Nawazuddin Siddique & Vicky Kaushal realizing their true self.

So which movie amongst these really touched you, do write to us!
