An ultimate example of a beam balance; formally dressed with handbag & smartphone in one hand meanwhile buying vegetables from the other. At other instance, she may be wearing a handful of bangles and at the same time cracking an important deal. These are modern times and these Bahus are on a prowl!
Being dumb & naive are a passe. They are well read & well informed. Career – their priority; Success in it – the next one. Dependent as they were once, no way. The Modern-age Bahus have some serious investments, even a house, to their credit.
Their list of priced possession has grown big. Zara to Gucci, from a two-wheeler to sedan and from basic mobile to smartphones with zillion of apps loaded in it, they want everything but simply the best.
“Driving: ya, eh, huf, ???, maybe.. If you are smiling at the mention, trust me you are annoying her. More so if you are a man in her life like Husband/Boy friend, chances are that she hates you for this doubt.
The Man factor.. If you are her husband or to-be and is of the opinion that post marriage, she will love you as you are; probably soon you may have to face cold glances even cold food! The Modern-age Bahus like well-maintained & well behaved men. Not exactly a six pack but a bulge or disrespect is certainly going to displease them.
She loves her TV soaps, She loves her books. She loves to cook. She loves to travel and she is in absolute love with her jeans, those shorts & that summer skirt. She enjoys her occasional party & booze. She enjoys her all exclusive chocolate. She enjoys the selfie time and enjoys the little space that she manages to get after performing her dual role.
Mariage & family are important but that space, that air to breathe is also equally important for the Modern-age Bahus. They hate people who try to force peep in their personal life & the gossip mongers.
The Modern-age Bahus are smart, suave & strong. You can joke about them, crib about them but you cannot ignore them.
When I refer these Bahus as ‘Modern-aged’, I don’t only mean the year 2000s Bahu but all those women from past, present & future who have worked at office and balanced at home. After all, modernity is just relative and it is more about the strength, struggle, and living life on your own terms.
