Yeah that’s my most dreaded letter simply because of an awful teenage problem called ‘Acne’. My fear of this teenage trouble still exists, to the extent that now also I get petrified by a single outgrowth over my face. ‘Acne’ commonly called as ‘pimples’, is medically defined as a skin condition characterized by red pimples on the face.
Acne in teenagers..
“This is a common problem among teenagers.” – is what I used to hear from elders. But it was a major concern for me as it took a toll on my confidence then. I used to shy away from any public appearance each time pimples would crop up. From performing on stage in school to friend’s birthday party, I would give each of these events a miss. After all it was like my entire persona would turn black and white and only the pimple would be in Eastman color.
Are you seeing me or my pimples?
I remember once though I went for a school picnic, all the while I had kept shying away from being a part of photographs with friends. Slowly I came to see that each time an important day was approaching a pimple or a bunch of nasty pimples would come up bang over the nose or forehead as if they were challenging me and trying to break my confidence.
Further the struggle with pimples wouldn’t end here, the pimples would continue to grow bigger in shape and size. Its color would also change dramatically from bright red to awfully looking white and going away leaving a mark behind.
My attempt to deal with it stretched from simple home-made ubtans (paste) to complex medicated creams and from stomach cleaning fruits like Papaya to blood purifying bitter Ayurvedic drinking potions. Sometimes my face used to have a polka dot design due to cream application which was heart breaking. I also tried several beauty salon treatments like clean up, facial etc. but all in vain. Literally in those days I would spend my whole pocket-money on buying cosmetics to hide pimples and on dresses & jewelry to distract attention of my friends from my face. Out of all the pimples there would be some which were really painful, physically more discomforting than mentally. 🙁
What worked for me: I am a fighter and my determination did pay off; I got big time success in preventing Acne and its cure by cleansing my face regularly with neem leaves.
Neem Leaves
Neem leaves have anti bacterial quality which keep skin clean, healthy and cure pimples. I used to clean my face daily with boiled neem leaves water. Apart from this I also used neem powder along with turmeric and milk in a form of paste to cure pimples. Both turmeric and neem have antiseptic properties while milk made my skin supple and glowing. For vanishing acne scars I used a combination mix of neem, honey & tulsi. However for some deep scars I did go for cosmetic skin peeling treatment etc.
Thankfully for teenagers now, the power of neem comes packed in products like Garnier Pure Active Neem Face Wash, neem based face packs etc. which work with the same precision and obviously with lesser efforts to be put in. Well it is a much easier way to transform oneself from ugly Betty to gorgeous princess. All you have to do is twice daily cleanse your face with a small amount of this face wash.
For pimple free and clear skin..
In present day also I get one or two pimples though its much lesser in frequency than before. But I am pondering over getting myself this neem based face wash to pamper my face and keep it pimple free and healthy. If you have a similar pimple/acne story do write to me.
