An After Thought

A Letter to the Misogynist Lawyer

Dear Sir,
Pranam!
I am a tender flower in this big bad world,
Ouch! with so many thorns around me.
I am my family’s diamond walking down the street
and these dogs, bhao! bhao!
I hope now you know in what context I am dedicating this post to you.
Sir I respect you deeply and my highest regards to you for firstly caring about the safety of women across India so much. The other reason I admire you so much is that only few people have the audacity to admit what they actually are like you said thorns, d_gs etc. But why generalise? I am sure some other men with modern thinking wouldn’t like it, right!
Further, I appreciate your Botany knowledge but I am sure you must be having a tough time with Zoology part of Biology. Simply because dogs do not have a craze for diamonds neither they have an appetite for eating it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even if diamonds are served in a golden bowl too, they wouldn’t eat, even if the most beautiful ornaments are made of these diamonds for them, they wouldn’t wear it.
Nevertheless please don’t be disheartened cause there is always a room for improvement. Concentrate on the Zoology part first, revise the chapters twice and you would surely clear the exam. God forbids my saying so, but Sir have you anytime undergone an operation, without an anesthetic administered? Do you know the amount of pain that gets masked upon by anaesthesia? If not ask anybody who has got a major operation done with an anaesthesia. Your innocent clients had inflicted so many such injuries on the body of that girl that being a woman I shiver with just the thought of the deed.
Sir now let us talk about films. Have you seen a gore movie? I haven’t but yes I understand what it is. If you have seen such a movie you would probably be in a better position than me to decide who was under filmy influence.
On a more serious note, Sir you might have fought many legal cases, won many and also lost some but haven’t you met a woman lawyer better than yourself, a woman judge before whom you might have said, “ji sir, ji sir” and stood up when she arrived in the court or haven’t you heard about several women leaders in different fields of life. I am failing to understand which culture are you talking about? Certainly a culture from an alien civilization where there is no place for a woman. ‘India’ itself is referred as ‘Bharat Mata’ and Indian culture has several reference of  a woman being given the status of ‘Devi’ (deity) and worshipped in varied forms.
Dear Sir, I would request that you carefully weigh your words before speaking lest you may offend the ministry taking care of road development or the commercial mall owners by calling these places a ‘gutter’ where me and many other women aka flowers hangout.
Okay let me cross my limits and blatantly say one thing I as a woman, mother, daughter, sister, wife wants to be loved and respected. If these two things are remembered then rest everything will follow.
I agree your professional commitments bind you to fight cases like these and defend criminals like them but having such a big lawyer having such a misogynist opinion about the better half section of society is what astonishes me and doesn’t really suit to a lawyer of your stature.
There’s one last question in my mind. Can I ask it? Or shouldn’t I? Okay I think I will end my note here.
Sorry for being opinionated as contrary to your expectations from a woman.
Regards,
A lady, a girl or a woman from India

Nicely written. Unfortunately, through the documentary “India’s daughter” we saw only two of these lawyers. There are many more people with such sick mentalities in all walks of life. Hope they can be educated.
