Exploring Bangalore in an Official Trip..

List of Contents

My first encounter with Bengaluru (formerly named Bangalore) ‘the Silicon Valley of India’ was on an official trip. So keeping aside the work hours I was just left with a handful of hours to explore this beautiful garden city.

Destination – Bangalore..
So like me if you are also set for a business trip to Bangalore then some quick and useful information about Bangalore City:
  • Hotels in Bangalore:
Being the hub of several ‘Information Technology’ (I.T.) and retail companies Bangalore has a gamut of hotels well established. From ultra-luxury hotels to budget hotels there are options suiting varied requirements of people from all walks of life. Some of the best hotels in Bangalore are The Oberoi, ITC Gardenia, The Leela Palace etc. However if you are on an official trip you might just want to take up a hotel near your workplace or perhaps airport. There are a number of hotels near Bangalore airport, booking in any one of them can ease your worry of losing a flight at the last minute thanks to the frequently happening traffic jams and rains. For finding business hotels in Bangalore, one can easily find the best match by a simple online search and not forgetting to apply filters for example location, price, number of days of stay etc. to narrow down on the best fit. Some of the good business hotels in Bangalore are Keys Hotel, Ramada Encore, Ginger hotel etc.
  • Shopping Places in Bangalore:
Bangalore has an amalgamation of the young buzzing population of students and professionals and the natives settled here from generations. Considering this, I can bifurcate the shopping places of Bangalore into modern and traditional markets. So in modern markets one can comfortably include varied malls like UB City, Forum Mall, Phoenix Market City and places like M.G. Road, Brigade Road etc. While the traditional markets include the busy Chikpete, Krishna Rajendra (KR) Market, Malleshwaram.
  • Places to Eat in Bangalore:
I simply love the Bangalorean coffee available on most streets of Bangalore. Apart from this I would whole-heartedly recommend MTR restaurant. You may have to face a half-hour waiting especially in the morning time but trust me it is totally worth it. Among other good places to satiate a hungry soul are Vidhyarthi  Bhawan, Koshy’s, Iyengar Bakery etc.
  • Leisure Activities in Bangalore:
If after bagful of shopping and eating your heart out you are still left with some leisure time or say a Sunday in between work days then one can enjoy by visiting places like Botanical Garden, Anjaneya Temple, Chinaswami Stadium, Iskon Temple & Wonderla Amusement Park etc. Apart from this Bangalore has an amazing nightlife.
  • People of Bangalore:
The local people here are simple and quite helpful. Only constraints that one might face here is the language barrier. Here communicating in English can be a life saver.
Hope this quick fact file about Bangalore does help people who are visiting it for the first time. Do write to me if you have some interesting finds about Bangalore that I may have missed out.
