After all the idea of punishing somebody is to prevent him or her of repeating his crime.

He is a superstar and all the educated and uneducated people derive their inspiration from Bollywood celebrities, right? I agree he has committed crimes and I am not against judiciary system because if that would have been the case I would have supported rapists in Nirbhaya’s case as well. But here in this particular verdict we are talking about a person who had surrendered in the next morning itself after the accident. (Source TOI 6.05.2015)
I wouldn’t take his name because the name carries a celebrity tag and is a chalta-firta brand which often prevents people to even consider him as ‘human’.
I would like to know from all those people who are justifying the verdict, “how many times have you donated blood for a stranger or just like that in a blood donation camp? Adding further, “how many of you have donated a thousand rupees or more for poor people? ” ( I would really like to know these figures.)
If now you have no words to speak out boisterously or some silly reasons to prove your actions then can we discuss this man further..?
This is the same man who is a regular visiting donor in one of the top cancer hospitals of India. Why does he need to do that, why does he have to donate/help financially for saving a complete stranger suffering from cancer or heart ailments? Definitely he needs to be punished for this.
Further he needs to get severely punished for saving lives of hundreds of people – children, young adults, old people for whom today he is equal to a God sent angel.
Here I am not even mentioning his social initiative called ‘Being Human’. I must ask here why does this man, who also works day and night to earn a good life for himself and his family has to do so much charity and give his hard-earned money to others. Do we, common people, give our money for others? Then definitely he should be punished.
In a similar case of Alistair Pereira of 2006 where the accused had rammed his car killing 7 labourers and few others severely injured the punishment that was given was three-year RI under Section 304, one year under Section 338 and six months for causing grievous injuries by the honourable High Court. (Source) So can we say by giving the actor, five years of RI imprisonment the judiciary is trying to set an example? If that is true why is he being made to pay the price of being a celebrity?
Plus if any of you heard the interview of one of the victim in the case on NDTV you might be knowing what the victims want. They want compensation, plain and simple. I feel sorry for the one person who died but for all others I have no feelings because they are acting as an opportunist, trying to get as much money as they can. They have already received compensation from the actor’s family but apparently it wasn’t enough for them.
People say he did this he did that, he killed a black buck etc. Finally I understand that nobody is above the law but my sincere appeal to people who are judging the actor and to the judicial system, let’s hang him as he has done so many crimes but not before we take into account his good deeds – not before a Padmashri or a similar national award is conferred to him for saving so many lives.
