Eid is round the corner and the fervor of this festival just can’t go unnoticed on the Bollywood Box Office. So which are the movies that one gets to make a selection from for this week? There is Bajangi Bhaijaan, the most awaited film of Salman Khan in 2015 and then there are the already blockbuster films like Bahubali & ABCD-2 trying to give it a good fight. Rather, I would say this week is one of the most promising week’s of the year in terms of overall collections at the box office with the whopping 250 crores costing movie, Bahubali and the all-dance movie ABCD-2 doing great for themselves.
The weekend has begun and I am sure that some of you must be eager to know an honest review of this new release, so read on.
Well analyzing the recent box successes that most Salman Khan starred movies have witnessed, the wait for this big release doesn’t really seem inappropriate.
The trailer of the movie had little snippets of Salman Khan carrying Harshaali Malhotra – the child actor on his back in order to reunite the girl with her parents living in Pakistan. This was enough to reveal the basic plot of the movie. I must add here that it worked rightly in convincing me to go and watch this movie the first day, first show.
But if you are going by the simple plot and choosing not to watch the film, then I bet you are misjudging & might miss out big time. Simply because the simple story is intertwined with a lot of emotions around, diversity in religion, the India-Pakistan love-hate chemistry and not to forget the cricketing maths between both the countries.
Talking about the star cast, in the main lead is obviously sabka Bhai, Salman Khan in and as Bajrangi Bhaijaan. With him, piggy-back riding is the doll-like looking child actor, Harshaali Malhotra. This is her debut film, earlier she was seen in a television serial. To complete the plot, there are actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Om Puri along with a big supporting cast.
Salman charms the screen with his sincere performance, but the one that really steals your heart is the innocence of Harshali. Nawazuddin Siddiqui looks fresh in a supporting role that has great comic elements. Kareena is doing what she is known to do the best, that is, looking gorgeous with her full sleeve salwar suits, kohled eyes and the stunning collection of earrings.
What Worked for Me:
Salman’s committed attitude for this film, the beauty with which Kashmir from both Indian and Pakistani side has been shot, the emotions, and the feeling of simply being human for helping someone else. Kudos to the director, Kabir Khan for capturing the beauty of Kashmir, unadulterated and reminding us all why it is called ‘Heaven on Earth’. Most songs in the film are already chartbusters like Selfie, song at dargah etc.
What Didn’t Work for Me:
Few songs, I felt were not necessary to be kept in the movie and could have been cut to shorten the length of movie like the chicken song.
Story:
A Pakistani girl gets lost in India and to her rescue comes, Pawan aka Bajangi. He decides to help the girl reach her home, back to her parents. On the way, the bond that develops between the mute girl and the strict Hanuman devotee – Bajrangi is a thing to watch and just be felt.
My Verdict:
This film is a true Salman style masala movie with a message towards the end. I wonder, how and why Salman Khan has started taking his films so seriously, anyway I love this transformation. So 3.5 stars to this movie.
Last thoughts, go and grab your ticket now before the multiplex near you puts up a houseful board. 🙂
P.S.: Catch Salman Khan’s famous blue gemstone bracelet missing from his hand.
