Shift Duty – ‘Shift’ is for you, ‘Duty’ is for Them:
After marrying a ‘mechanical engineer’, I understood the real meaning of working in shift duty. This means that according to their ‘duty’ which usually goes on and on after the office timings, the family has to ‘shift’ their plans, events and celebrations.

Even the Earth can be measured in millimeter (mm.):

Usually for most practical measurements of day-to-day life unit of measurements like feet, inch, meter etc. are put to use but if being married to a Mechanical Engineer then you are reminded of the petite measuring unit called ‘millimeter’ from the class five days. For them practically any dimension can be measured in millimeter. Courtesy this most of the spouses like me have a ‘Conversion’ app. installed in their mobiles for ready reference. Further as their spouse, you exactly know the value of ‘One’ this and ‘One’ that because everything counts.
-
Wherever you go, ‘Duty’ follows:

Holidays, casual leave, sick leave or just like that a mechanical engineer is always busy with work related phone calls, SMS’s or e-mails and we thought only soldiers are never off duty.
-
Safety First:

Working constantly with heavy duty machines and having seen some of the scariest accidents shear due to negligence and other reasons, being a spouse of a mechanical engineer you are bound to be lectured about safety and made to practice – risk proofing.
-
Five-day working, a Dream:
Trapped between all the adosiss’ & padosis’ enjoying five-day week working schedule and escaping on weekend getaway trips, being a mechanical engineer’s spouse, five-day working is equal to a distant dream for you. It is more annoying when you, yourself is into a five-day job and the messed up house is calling you. {Evil, I say!}
-
You get to enjoy extra holidays called ‘Shutdown’:

Being a mechanical engineer’s spouse though you can crib about long working hours and six working days per week but one of the perks or a bit of compensation comes to you in the form of extra ‘Shutdown’ holidays – a week when production in factories is halted and maintenance of machines is done. Hence, giving extra opportunity and time for employees to be with their families.
-
Don’t fret ‘coz Uniform’s there:

Most companies which work in factory set up have uniforms for all employees. So if you are a female whose spouse is a mechanical engineer, you don’t have to worry about maintaining the daily changing set of clothes; moreover you are saved from the fights and disagreements related to a favorite shirt or a favorite pant. So you just need to maintain the same three-four sets of uniform. On the other hand, if your wife is a mechanical engineer then the most important benefit of her having a uniform at workplace, is saving thousands of rupees which are generally spent over buying clothes specifically for workplace.

Good funny take.
Hilarious…never knew about these things
