Being an out and out Shahrukh Khan ‘fan’, when I had watched his movie Dilwale and wrote my feedback of the film I had also put forth a small appeal before my idol superstar in the form of following lines..
If ever you stumble over this blog post of mine then my earnest request to you from my end. Please try and do more films like Swades or Chak De or Bazigar or Darr or DDLJ and many more. Please stop doing mediocre films and comedy – no please!
Guess my blog has done a very minuscule but effective bit of contribution of carrying the message of several SRK fans like me who wanted to see him in a strong role. Shahrukh Khan is one of the most brightest star among the zillion actors in both Bollywood and Hollywood.
The Plot:
A die heart fan ‘Gaurav’ with many dreams in his heart sets out of his home to meet his idol superstar ‘Aryan Khanna’. But is lost in the crowd of hundreds of other fans flocking in front of the superstar’s house. Disheartened by the star’s attitude towards him, he decides to take out his angst on the star by taking his place and doing wrong things to bring down the fame of this superstar. Concerned about these acts of his imposter, the star finally decides to have a one-on-one showdown. What happens, in the end, is worth watching and a lesson for all the people who idolize/follow a celebrity to the extent of madness.
*Cast:
This film is a double treat of Shahrukh Khan for the audience. The two other newcomer female leads are good too.
What Worked For Me:
-
Story: It is a fantastic script and first of its kind ever made in Bollywood.
-
Direction: No loose ends, all actions scenes, and chases are filmed to look believable and not larger than life. The director has managed to actually direct SRK and bring out the genuine actor in him.
-
SRK: Sir I adored you each second as you portrayed the character of Gaurav Chandna.
-
The chase sequences and the conceptuization of the scene in the opening sequence where the fan does an act dedicating to the superstar is amazing to watch.
-
Almost zero mention of SRK’s popular movies like DDLJ, KKHH etc.
What Didn’t Work For Me:
-
I was expecting and so missed the ‘Jabra Fan Anthem’ in the opening sequence or at least along the Cast and Credits in the end of the film.
‘Hatke’ facts about this movie from an SRK Fan’s eye:
-
It is a the first zero song movie done by SRK.
-
After watching the film unlike most Shahrukh Khan movies, the audience won’t be seen coming laughing and giggling but words of praise and admiration for the actor is sure to be heard.
-
There is no big leading lady opposite to SRK.
-
There is absolutely no cliched romance or comedy in the movie not even traces of it.
-
There is blood smeared SRK in the film but not in the same form as in previous movies.
