Sector 29 is one of the most established food places in Gurgaon with a lot of big and small restaurants, cafe & lounges in place. However, this locality is saturating fast with the place being almost flooded with people round the whole week and then the parking woes.
So when I was invited for the review of Playboy Cafe I was overjoyed with the fact that it is located at Golf Course Road.
But this wasn’t the only reason for my ecstasy. Playboy Clubs are in place globally for years now but India really lacked one or two of its kind badly, until this first cafe type model of Playboy brand in India opened their doors in Gurgaon. So yes, yet another feather in the hat for Gurgaonites!
Location:
The cafe is very easy to locate as it stands tall in a standalone portion of the Bani Commercial Complex on Golf Course Road.
I will give its location a 4/5 rating.
Ambiance:
Playboy Cafe is spread over three floors in total for giving the people coming in here quite an exclusive & comfy feeling. The uppermost floor is the terrace area giving the open-air, rooftop sitting lovers a reason to be here. All across the three floors, there are a lot of playboy signature bunnies to be seen like at the door handles. Apart from this, there are posters framed on the wall of famous Playboy models. They have an internal lift with the adjacent wall having a huge collage en-capturing the glorious Playboy personalities and photos. On the ground floor, there is a huge bar in the center.
I will give its ambiance a 5/5 rating.
Service:
Service can be worked upon a little as it takes a while for the food to come to your table. But the staff knows each dish they are serving pretty well and is friendly. Especially the bartenders are pretty good at their job and stylishly display their juggling acts & fire tricks.
I will give its location a 4/5 rating.
Food:
Coming to food, as I entered the cafe, along with some of my friends, we ordered the drinks first. So one of us had Playboy LIIT , the other had Wild Herbed Guava Mocktail, Beer Cocktail Michelada, Bunny Martini & more.
The best among all of them and the one that I will highly recommend would be Playboy LIIT. Now the ice tea flavor isn’t very dominant in it. It is made of eleven spirits which are all juiced up. The varied flavors of its components are carefully balanced out to yield an amazing flavor which is tangier like orange. It’s a power-packed refreshing drink.
Mocktails & Cocktails..
Watermelon & mint juice is healthy and refreshing. Wild Herbed Guava Mocktail is nice with Guava flavor, spices and herbs make it, even more, tastier! I would personally give a miss to Peanut butter & Banana Shake.
Spinach & Corn Dimsum
With the drinks we also ordered few starters like Blue Cheese Yogurt Kebab, Nachos topped with Garbanzo, Southern Style Mushroom, Fritto Mistto, Keema Ghotala, Pudina & Lamb, Green Eggs Benedict, American Poutine, Thai Maggi, Spinach & Corn Dimsum, Thai Rice & Chicken Dumpling. Out of this amazingly diverse spread of starters.
As a group we liked Fritto Mistto which is an assorted fish platter fried in Rice flour and with to dips especially the Garlic Aioli. In Keema Ghotala – there is no ghotala in there but all good flavors in there.
Delicious Keema GhotalaPudina Lamb was really tasty though was a bit tight.American Poutine which is a variation given to traditional french fries with red wine sauce is good but traditional french fries is literally BFF of Indian Palate.Maggi too was kind of different with Thai flavors in it but really good.Thai Rice & Chicken Dumplings were amazing both in presentation and taste.Grilled Fish served with Rice
For the main course, we ordered lesser number of dishes which were Grilled Fish served with rice, Spaghetti pasta with Bolognese Lamb, Duo of chicken.
Out of these all, we liked the Spaghetti pasta which was brilliantly cooked in Bolognese Lamb Sauce. {Drooling}Duo of Chicken would be the second dish that I liked from our main course order.Red Velvet Jar
In the desserts, we had Tiramisu and Red Velvet Jar (not served in a jar though) both were heavenly!
I will give its food a 4.5/5 rating.
Verdict:
I feel Playboy Cafe is one of the most and happening new cafes in Gurgaon. Being their first cafe in India, they have been cautious not be go over the board like other Playboy Cafes around the globe. But this definitely doesn’t mean that the place is boring and has nothing different to offer. In this cafe, you have spacious seating arrangements done for small as well as large groups. It has a full serviced bar with great cocktail & mocktails for one to try. Food is also very good. Ideal for young in age & young at heart crowd.
A must try fun party & weekend hangout place in Gurgaon away from crowded Sector 29 with excellent cocktails & great food!
