Hey all, we are increasingly becoming fitness conscious by each passing day. Girls including me are anxious each month about the calculations that happen standing on the weighing scale. Men, similarly are also drifting towards the same trend and become fitter than before.
But what can one really do to satiate a sweet tooth yet stay healthy? Simple answer to it is indulge but rather in a healthy dessert with controlled portion size.
Dessert = Healthy???? Then read on this recipe..
Apple Strawberry crumble has the natural sweetness of both these fruits. Further, this recipe has the use of oats rather than heaps of flour.
Apple: 2 No. medium sized (Peeled, Cored & Choped)
Strawberry: 6-8 No. (Chopped in small bits)
Rolled Oats: 1/4 Cup (I took Strawberry flavored ready to cook oats)
Flour: 1 1/2 Tbsp.
Brown Sugar: 60 gms.
Cinnamon: 1/4 Tsp. (Freshly ground powder)
Clarified Butter or white butter: 3/4 Tbsp.
Raisins & Walnuts: Optional (I added some along with strawberry topping)
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
Toss apples with cinnamon powder in a bowl until they are coated well.
Now either one can cook the crumble in a proper baking dish or can divide small portions and cook it in silicon molds or ramekins. (For baking dish or ramekin, one has to grease the container before putting the mixture. For silicon molds, greasing is not required.)
I divided the apple-cinnaom mixture into 5 silicon heart shaped molds.
Next add the chopped strawberry on it te apple mix.
In a separate bowl mix brown sugar, oats, flour& butter until it is of coarse crumbs look wise.
Spread this oats mixture over the strawberry divided in the molds and press the mixture to even out from top.
Bake in preheated oven the top layer turns golden brown and the juices of apple and strawberry start to bubble up from the corners about 10-20minutes.
Serve by garnishing it with strawberries and custard on the side.
The best part about this recipe apart from being healthy is that apple & strawberry are favorites among almost the entire family. So this crumble can be used as a regular healthy breakfast or a tea-time snack option. Even the kids love it too!
